How to Use First & Last Frame

1

Pick Image to Video

Switch to Image to Video mode. Your starting image becomes the first_frame — the exact frame the clip opens on.

2

Add an Optional Last Frame

Enable the last frame to define where the shot ends. Seedance 2.5 interpolates a smooth, controlled motion between your first and last frames.

3

Describe the Transition

Write what should happen between the two frames, then copy the API request. Add image URLs to the first_frame and last_frame content roles and generate.

First & Last Frame FAQ

How does first and last frame control work?

In the content array you provide an image with the role first_frame and, optionally, another with the role last_frame. Seedance 2.5 opens on your first frame and animates a smooth path toward the last frame, so you control both ends of the shot rather than just the start.

Do I have to set a last frame?

No. The last frame is optional. With only a first frame you get standard image-to-video animation. Adding a last frame is useful for precise transitions, product reveals, and matching cuts between shots.

Can I keep the character consistent between frames?

Yes. Seedance 2.5 is built for consistency, and providing both endpoints plus a clear motion description keeps the subject stable. For extra control you can also add reference_image items to lock in a character or product.
